There is hope!

It's a real pleasure to find something NEW, GOOD, and ORIGINAL these days on the music scene. I'm sure that I'm not the only one who's noticed that most bands these days are cheap rip-offs of each other, with few, if any, having any semblance of originality (or talent).
I'd been hearing "Welcome to the Black Parade" from My Chemical Romance on the radio for a while, and liked it enough to pick up the CD. Color me impressed! While that track is definitely among the best, I can't say that it's my favorite, as there are several other strong contenders. They have a kick-ass sound, skill and complexity in their performance, and some excellent writing for both melody and lyrics. If I had to put them into a genre box, perhaps metal with soul? Like any true talent, they defy easy categorization.
Being jaded and tired of the retread-world makes it hard to enjoy much. Thanks for rattling the bars of my cage, MCR. It isn't often that I'm pleasantly surprised, even inspired. Music is a light in the darkness.

Date: 2008-03-03 08:13 am (UTC)Please do yourselves a favor... enjoy every embrace and moment together. Life can change in a few seconds and everything is oh, so very different. Just recovering from some unhappy events from a couple of months ago. We had unseasonable flooding that wiped out a very large area for literally miles... houses, roads, bridges, railroad beds, fences, whole swaths of trees. Concurrent with all of that, my wife experienced trouble breathing. So off the hospital we went, it is across the street. My mental picture: get her some oxygen, bring her home, continue on with life... Un hu... she passed out, stopped breathing right in front of the emergency room desk... (sorry) this is a little tougher than I expected... I wheeled her into triage... then on into the emergency area proper... people came from every direction. I felt out of place and that my car was still blocking the emergency room entry. Moved the car to a regular parking spot, returned to the emergency room, only to find the doors were all locked. Finally got back inside, but was not allowed to see my wife for two plus hours.
That whole twelve plus day episode is still all a blur. Later it is unofficially revealed to me that my wife didn't get her airway restored for seven minutes or longer. She sustained brain damage. If she had regained consciousness her life would be mere existence... vegetable.
So, like I said, hug and embrace your lovely wife and say you love her as though those are the last words you ever uttered.... your wedding photos are great... didn't look at all, but enjoyed what I did see. Thanks for keeping the web page up for so long.
I can remember a time, before the internet was what it is now, and we mainly had BBS exchange sites... for communicating and exchanging ideas and files.
thanks again, my apologies for words that may cause the negative emotion or two. Just didn't expect all of them to come running out so fast and didn't have the heart to delete the thoughts I didn't even know were that close to the surface... Got to go... work tomorrow
